About This Program
Back to school season is an exciting time for most children. New supplies, a fresh start, the anticipation of a new year. But for children in low-income and refugee families, it can also be a stressful time. Parents who cannot afford backpacks and notebooks should not have to send their children to school without the basics.
Our Back to School Drive collects and distributes brand new school supplies to Muslim children in need every year before the school year begins. Islam places seeking knowledge as an obligation upon every Muslim. Helping a child access education properly is not just a charity act. It is an investment in the future of our community.
What We Distribute
All items are brand new. Typical packages include:
- Backpacks
- Notebooks and composition books
- Pencils, pens, and erasers
- Rulers, scissors, and glue sticks
- Crayons, markers, and colored pencils
- Folders and binders
Who We Serve
We serve Muslim children from low-income families in New Jersey, with a focus on Central NJ. Refugee children are a particular priority, as many arrive with nothing and their families are still getting on their feet when school begins.
